Concrete resurfacing
A new surface on the slab you already have
Resurfacing gives a sound slab a brand new top. We do not pour concrete and we do not break anything out. The old surface gets opened up with a diamond grinder, the cracks and pinholes get filled, then an epoxy and polyaspartic system is bonded over it. That coating becomes the floor you walk on, park on and hose down.
James Walsh looks at the slab before anything is promised, because prep is the whole job. A coating grabs bare, open concrete, not dust, old paint or a slab sealed years ago. Get that right and the floor reads as one clean surface instead of a patchwork of stains and old repairs.
Wondering whether your slab is worth resurfacing? Call Pro Level Floor Coatings and James will look at it first.
Is my concrete a good candidate for resurfacing?
Most slabs are. If the concrete underneath is solid and the damage sits on the surface, resurfacing is the right call. Pitting, light spalling, oil staining, flaking paint and hairline cracks all disappear under a bonded coating, and you keep the slab you already paid for. What a coating cannot do is hold a broken slab together. If a section has dropped, if a crack runs right through at two different heights, or if the concrete crumbles when you scrape it, a new surface only hides something still moving underneath. A coating over a failing slab buys a year and costs you twice, so you get told. That honest look comes first on all our concrete work in Houston.
What makes a resurfaced floor actually stay put?
Preparation, not the product in the bucket. Every job here opens with a diamond grinder, never a paint tray. Grinding takes off old sealer, paint and the weak top skin of the concrete, and it opens the pores so the resin can key into the slab instead of lying on it. Cracks and pinholes are filled while the floor is still open, then the dust comes out. Surface preparation is also where the American Concrete Institute points when a bonded topping fails.
Coatings rolled over a dirty or sealed slab peel in sheets, usually right where the car parks. Ground open first, the very same epoxy system stays exactly where it was put.

Call (346) 278-3376What can a resurfaced floor end up looking like?
Whatever you want, because the new surface is a blank slate. Decorative flake is the popular pick for garages and shops: color chips broadcast into the base coat, then locked under a clear topcoat, with enough texture to hide the dust a working space makes. Custom metallic moves pigment through the resin, so no two floors finish the same. Solid color reads clean and simple. All of them finish with a clear coat that takes the abuse so the concrete does not. If your slab is already in decent shape and only needs protecting, a clear sealed finish may be all it takes.
How long does it take, and when can I use it?
One day. Grinding, cleaning and filling, then the base coat, the flake and the clear polyaspartic topcoat, all in the same day, and you are back on the floor 12 hours later. That holds however much crack repair a slab needs, and James gives you the date before anything is touched. Garages run to the same pattern as every other job on our garage flooring page, with more repair work in the first half.

Straight answers about your floor coating questions
What is concrete resurfacing?
It is a new wear surface bonded over the concrete you already have. The old slab gets ground back to bare, the surface gets repaired, then it gets coated. Nothing is torn out and no new concrete is poured.
Do you have to break out my old concrete first?
No. Pro Level Floor Coatings coats and seals concrete, we do not pour it or repair it. If your slab is sound, resurfacing gives you a new floor without the demolition, the dumpster or the wait.
Will resurfacing hide the cracks in my garage floor?
Stable cracks are filled and vanish under the coating. A crack that is still moving is a different story, and James will say so before the work begins, because no coating can hold a slab together.
Can you resurface a floor with old oil stains on it?
Usually yes. Grinding takes the stained layer off, and deep spots get treated before the coating goes down. Send a photo and James will tell you what he is looking at.
How long does the job take?
One day, from the first pass with the grinder to the final clear coat. Every install we do is a one day install, and you are back on your floor 12 hours later.
Where do you resurface concrete?
Across Houston, Katy, Cypress, Fulshear, Sugar Land, Richmond and the surrounding areas. Garages, workshops, patios, pole barns and commercial floors all get resurfaced the same way, with the build matched to the traffic.
