Commercial flooring installation

Floors that keep working while your business does

Small shops, service bays, workshops, pole barns and light warehouse space all live and die on their concrete. Once a slab dusts and holds oil, the unit looks tired however tidy your crew keeps it. A bonded resin floor gives you one sealed surface that mops clean and stops the dust at the source.

James Walsh walks every commercial floor himself before anything is priced, because square footage tells you nothing about what a slab needs. The traffic, the chemicals, the hours you cannot lose and the state of the concrete all change the system. The rest of what we do is on our Houston floor coating services page.

Which commercial floors do you coat in Houston?

The ones used hard and cleaned often: service bays, mechanic and detail shops, pole barns and workshops, small fabrication units, storage and light warehouse space, and the back of house areas customers never see. We also take the front half of a unit so a counter area matches the workshop behind it. A lot of it comes from tenants around Sugar Land and Richmond, in older parks where the concrete is sound but the surface has been beaten flat. It is the same standard we hold as a Houston floor coatings contractor, specified heavier for what a commercial slab takes.

Can you coat our floor without shutting us down?

Usually yes, and it is the first thing we plan around. The floor is split into sections so half the space keeps working while the other half cures, and the dusty grinding is scheduled for the hours you are closed. Polyaspartic topcoats cure much faster than standard epoxy, which is why James leads with them on commercial work: a bay is back in service quickly. Before anything is moved you get a running order in writing: what happens on which day, what has to be cleared, and when each section is usable again. Where a slab only needs protecting rather than rebuilding, sealing the concrete takes even less of your week.

Will pallet jacks and forklift traffic wreck it?

Not if the system is specified for the traffic. An aisle that takes a loaded pallet jack all day needs a thicker build and a harder topcoat than a counter area, so we spec them differently. Wheeled traffic is what these resins were made for, and the failures you see elsewhere trace back to preparation, not product, which is why the slab gets ground open rather than washed and painted. Where grip matters, around wash bays and ramps, a non-slip aggregate goes into the topcoat. Underneath it is the same epoxy system we put into homes, simply built up heavier.

How rough we open the slab is not opinion either: the concrete surface profile standards for this trade set what the system going over it needs.

Our slab is oil stained, cracked and patched. Problem?

That describes most commercial floors we look at, and it is rarely a problem. Diamond grinding takes the contaminated top layer off, oil soaked spots get cleaned and treated first, and cracks and pinholes are filled so the floor reads as one surface. A slab that looks past saving usually just needs its surface rebuilt, which is what concrete resurfacing does. Pro Level Floor Coatings coats and seals concrete rather than pouring or repairing it, so a structural problem underneath is something you hear up front.

Straight answers about your floor coating questions

How much downtime should we plan for?

Most small commercial floors run two to four days, depending on square footage and how much prep the slab needs. The work runs in sections and around your opening hours, so the whole unit is rarely offline at once.

Will forklift and pallet jack traffic damage the coating?

A properly built system handles wheeled traffic. We spec a thicker build and a harder topcoat for aisles and loading areas than for a counter area or an office. Tell James what drives on the floor and it gets built to suit.

What about oil, brake fluid and cleaning chemicals?

Cured epoxy and polyaspartic floors resist chemicals and stains, so the usual shop fluids sit on the surface instead of soaking in. Wipe spills up and the floor stays the color it was installed. Mention anything aggressive you use so the right topcoat gets picked.

Can you add bay markings or a non-slip finish?

Yes. Line marking, bay outlines and walkway borders can go into the system before the clear coat, so they wear with the floor rather than peeling off it. Non-slip aggregate can be added anywhere grip matters, like wash bays and ramps.

Do we have to empty the whole unit first?

Only the section being worked on. The run is planned so you shift racking, tools and vehicles once instead of clearing everything at the beginning. Heavy fixed equipment can often be worked around, and all of it gets looked at during the estimate.

Do you cover commercial work outside Houston?

Yes. We take shop, pole barn and warehouse floors across Houston, Katy, Cypress, Fulshear, Sugar Land, Richmond and the surrounding areas. We coat and seal concrete, we do not pour or repair it.
